You guys are treading in dangerous territory for me… I want to make a batch of chocolate buttercream, vanilla buttercream, and maybe a coffee butter cream and have a schmorgusborg of frosting for dinner….

Thank you for your detailed instructions with videos and photos. Although I beat the frosting a full 10 mins and it looked fine in the bowl, as soon as I filled my icing bag and started going the consistency seemed to change and it looked grainy again. I will have to try again and just beat longer I guess. I also figured out by watching your video on how to frost that I was doing way to many wide circles-so thank you that really helped.
I was experimenting with making cupcakes and frosting them. Made your vanilla cupcakes with the cake mix and the vanilla frosting. Everything came out just perfect. I put them in a cupcake bouquet and used the rosette style. Using a decorating bag fitted with tip 1M, 2D or 2A, hold the bag straight up, with the tip about half an inch above the surface of your cupcake. Squeeze to form the center of the swirl.
Without releasing pressure, raise the tip a little bit and move it slightly to the side. This will be the starting point of your swirl. Pipe a line of icing toward the top of the star. Using a circular motion, pipe a? After completing the first rotation, move the tip slightly inward and repeat the circular motion. Move the frosting tip along the outside edge of the cupcake in a counter clockwise motion. Once you make a complete circle start your next circle on top of the one you have already done, making each circle smaller as you go up.
