Is it normal for your nipple to invert
Many thanks for letting us know how you got on. I am delighted to hear that nothing untoward has happened since and, that the changes in your skin were due to hormonal acne. I sincerely hope that you don't get any further problem with your nipples, but, if you do, make sure to get it checked out with your GP. Last night I discovered that my right nipple was inverted, I've never noticed this before! I'm 26 and on the pill. I can't feel any lump but naturally I've been anxious all day and googling like mad.
I've filled out an econsult and waiting for the drs to come back on Monday but I'm just petrified it's something serious - sometimes it's like a little dimple then other times it was completely inverted and like a little hole. When I'm cold etc it comes back out as normal. I feel like my breast is warm to the touch but I don't know if I'm just imagining things now.
I must've looked at it about 20 times today alone inspecting it. A very warm welcome to the forum that nobody really wants to join. I am sorry to hear about your symptoms and am glad to her that you have already set the wheels in motion to get this checked out. Our minds tend to go into overdrive when we discover something like this, but no amount of worry is going to change the outcome. It is unusual, although not impossible for someone as young as you to have cancer.
Try to find some solace in the fact that only 1 person in every 8 referred to the breast clinic will be diagnosed with cancer. Skip to main content. Post to forum. Search Search forum. Do you have a cancer chat password? Type keyword s to search.

If your nipples have always had this appearance, it is usually not a sign of any medical issue.
But if you have recently discovered this problem, it could be a sign of an underlying medical condition such as breast cancer. You may be wondering what causes this issue and how to fix inverted nipples. Inverted nipples are often congenital, meaning they have been present since birth. This condition may result from milk ducts that do not fully develop or because the nipple base remained small while in the womb.
Nipple inversion can occur in both males and females and often affects both sides instead of just one. It is caused by tight connective tissue or other problems with the ductal system connected to the nipple.
